Fuel efficiency varies, generally being low for both petrol and diesel vehicles. Petrol variants have fuel economy figures of between 6 l/ 100 km (39.2 mpg) and 7.3 l/ 100 km (32.22 mpg), while diesel ones – between 4.6 l/ 100 km (51.13 mpg) and 5.8 l/ 100 km (40.55 mpg).

All-wheel-drive options are available in each Mazda CX-5 generation to ensure better performance in a wider variety of conditions.
