Mercedes-Benz CLA AMG is the best-performing variant in terms of speed in the model range. It has a top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph) and 270 km/h (167.77 mph) and acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h of 4.9 seconds (0-60 mph: 4.7 seconds) and 4 seconds (0-60 mph: 3.8 sec), for the 421 Hp variants and the less powerful options, respectively.

Shooting Brake is the station wagon styled version of the Mercedes-Benz CLA. It was introduced to the model range in 2015.

Both Coupe and Shooting Brake variants of the Mercedes-Benz CLA perform equally well in terms of speed, with close to identical top speed and acceleration figures.

Depending on the model year, Mercedes-Benz CLA 200d is equipped with a 2.0- (1950 cm3 | 119 cu. in.) or 2.1-liter (2143 cm3 | 130.77 cu. in.) 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, producing 150 Hp or 136 Hp, respectively.

The whole Mercedes-Benz CLA offers overall good fuel economy. The CLA 250 variants achieve consumption of between 5.5 l/100 km (42.77 mpg) and 6.9 l/100 km (34.09 mpg).

Plug-in hybrid variants were included in the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA model range in both Coupe and Shooting Brake body styles. They can be charged with both alternating and direct current. Alternating current (AC) charging at 7.4 kW would take 1 hour and 45 min to charge from 10 to 100 percent, and direct current charging (DC) at 24 kW would charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 25 minutes.

The most recent 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA, both Coupe and Shooting Brake, is manufactured at the Kecskemét plant in Hungary.
