Renault Laguna was initially released with a 5-speed manual transmission. In 1997 variants, a 4-speed automatic transmission was included in the range. Two new options were introduced in 2001 – a 6-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic. 6-speed automatic transmissions were available from 2007 onwards.
Renault Laguna is between 4510 (177.56 in.) and 4803 mm (189.09 in.) in length, with the 1st generation hatchback being the shortest and the 3rd generation variants being the longest.
After Renault Laguna was discontinued in 2015, its successor was announced to be Renault Talisman.
Many issues were reported with the 1st generation of Renault Laguna, such as rear wheel bearing problems, heavy depreciation, bonnet latches issues, which all contributed to the car breaking down often and being perceived as unreliable. Also in regard to reliability, the next generation made history by being the first vehicle available in Europe to achieve five stars in the EuroNCAP crash test results.
