Citroën C5 Aircross - Asian debut

26 May 2017

Exactly two years after the reveal of a promising concept during 2015 Shanghai Auto, Citroen proudly debuted its final, ready-for-production version. C5 Aircross made its first official appearance in China during this year's Auto Shanghai event.

C5 Aircross could easily be labeled as a breath of fresh air for the French car maker. The compact SUV intendens to capture the mind and heart of its prospect owners, while at the same time is aiming at conquering the SUV segment market in Asia.

But let's focus on some of the most important vehicle features that we simply could not ignore. Technically, C5 Aircross has perfect measurements for a SUV:

Being pioneers in integrating innovative technology, Citroen's engineering team decided to equip C5 Aircross with a new suspension system called "progressive hydraulic cushion". Plus, a set of secondary dampers (with a hydraulic liquid inside of them) was also added to maximize the effect of suspension.

The car comes with a smart system that includes by presumption: automatic emergency braking, traffic recognition system, adaptive cruise control.

Just like most of the cars presented at Auto Shanghai, C5 Aircross has some features that were made solely for the Chinese car market:

C5 Aircross will also enter the market and as a plug-in hybrid. So far, there is almost no information about it, except that it will have a petrol engine and 2 electric motors.

C5 Aircross offers unique exterior features - bold new colors and bulky shape. More masculine look was given to the front grille, headlights and bonnet.

Inside, driver and passengers would benefit from the spacious cabin: big legroom, comfortable seats, incredible infotainment system, smart dashboard control. A new kind of glass has been used on the C5 Aircross - one that reduces to minimum the annoying sound of wind on the windshield. To make the things even better - engineers revised and redesigned the insulation so it would minimize the engine sound inside the cabin.

C5 Aircross will hit the Chinese car market sometime in October 2017. As for Europe, it will come by the end of 2018.
